Becoming Breathless

performance video (2:22)

An expansion of boundary leads to an eventual dissolution of boundary.  Tension builds as the skin of the balloon is stretched beyond its limit.  It pops in a figurative moment of epiphany where the inside and outside rejoin as one body of air, tension is released, the filter over the camera is removed, and clarity is offered.   Blowing into the balloon until it pops is an act of pushing boundaries.  With my own childish fear of a balloon bursting in my face, I prolong the tension of what is inevitable by slowly stretching the balloon although I am already committed to the pop.
